Recherche exploratoire pour développer les interactions orales en e-tandems : perceptions concernant la progression d’apprentissage et attitudes par rapport aux types de feedback

Tijdschriftbijdrage - Tijdschriftartikel

This exploratory study aims to develop the interactional oral proficiency by implementing synchronous e-tandems outside of school hours. The target audience consists of academic undergraduate students in applied linguistics (belonging to) from the Francophone community and the Dutch-speaking community of Belgium respectively. The theoretical framework is presented in the introduction. The experimentation is as follows: students are invited to observe a strict methodological sequence that includes three steps. The first contacts are made in ‘intercomprehension’ (the students speak their own language); The following contacts are in mixed mode (start of the conversation in ‘intercomprehension’ and then in exolingual mode); the third and final stage of the learning process is the exolingual conversation . Coaching instructions are also given for feedback. The students' perceptions are recorded by means of surveys after six months of the experience e-tandems. The objectives are to assess the relevance of the methodological framework and to better understand the feedback procedures implemented between partner tandems. The first analyses show the students' interest in intercomprehension. They also prefer to have the opportunity to correct themselves throughout the conversation.
