Body-building studied

Tijdschriftbijdrage - Tijdschriftartikel

DSM NeoResins has developed a novel technique that employs a white light interferometer to provide a time-resolved 3D visualization of the paint surface along with metallic substrates having a standardized surface roughness to simplify the analysis and relate it to theoretical models. In the technique, the white light passes through a beam splitter that directs the light to both the sample surface and to a reference mirror, performing a sequence of measurements to follow the development of the paint surface as a function of time. The new technique has also now enabled the fundamentals underlying the telegraphing effect to be examined, resulting in the development of two new waterborne concept binders that give more effective smoothing than a standard waterborne. The interferometry technique for the dried paint systems based on these new binders has also confirmed the visual observations made on the paints applied to wood.
