Resultaten van minimale invasieve vs. open leverresectie voor metastasen van colorectale kanker; prospectief gerandomiseerde studie

Hepatic resection offers the only chance of long-term survival for selected patients with colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). Patients with resectable CRLM will be randomized to undergo minimally invasive liver resection (MILR) versus standard open liver resection (OLR). Stratification will be based on the type of hepatic resection (major: > 3 liver segments or minor: < 2 liver segments) and prior systemic chemotherapy (yes/no). Differences in clinical and oncological outcome will be studied in the light of systemic immunosuppression, systemic inflammatory changes, haematogenous cancer cell dissemination, and hepatic micro-environment.
