The research will focus on the investigation of the resource potential,demand and application of the hybrid energy for rural (off-grid, stand-alone) loads. Through an appropriate experimental set up, the optimization of a hybrid wind-solar energy system will be investigated. Simulationof the interaction among the resource potential and loading will be carried out and validated with experiments on site. Local design, testing and manufacturing of small wind turbine blades will be conducted. Furthermore, assessment of the local wind and solar potential (pattern, speed,intensity) will be carried out. Eventually, an optimized hybrid system as appropriate and relevant for off-grid application will be identified.
