Versterken van het potentieel van de Faculteit Farmaceutische Wetenschappen te Kinshasa op gebied van kwaliteitscontrole van lokaal beschikbare antibiotica en geneesmiddelen tegen malaria.

In this project the aim is to reinforce the capacity of the Faculty of pharmaceutical Sciences in Kinshasa, Congo, with respect to drug analysis. More specifically, the project will focus on antibiotics and antimalarial drugs, because their quality is essential for public helath. In many developing countries there is a problem of counterfeit, illegal and underdosed drugs, which jeopardize successful treatment of diseases and can even cause death in case of infectious diseases. The plan is to install specialized analytical equipment which will be used for a survey of the local market. At the end of the project, an overview of the current situation on the local market will be available as far as antibiotics and antimalarial drugs are concerned.
