i-ACCESS MyRights - AI-gestuurde ondersteuning voor een slimme justitie met kinderen in Europa (i-ACCESS MyRights)

In Europe, there is a clear need to create an ethical and unbiased tool to assist child victims in accessing quality information about their
rights when involved in criminal proceedings. While the debate remains very intense between pros and cons of AI-based justice for cases
involving children, current approaches are inherently biased and legal jargon is often a clear barrier for a non-expert user, especially for
children. The project’s overall objective is to improve access to information and legal assistance in the area of e-justice for child victims
in the European Union by promoting a child centred AI-driven solution. This would allow child victims to easily find information and
exercise their rights in criminal proceedings, while improving the judicial process flow, and reduce their stress, regardless of their gender,
social and cultural background. The proposed initiative will promote the uptake of our AI-driven solution while ensuring that no misuse of
this new technology will occur. This objective is in line with the 2019-2023 Strategy on e-Justice, in particular Action 12 on the access to
legal information via a chatbot. The project targets 75 child victims, aged 14-18 years in Romania, Greece and Bulgaria; 30 children and
young people with experience in the youth justice system from child advisory boards; 450 law enforcement, judges, prosecutors, lawyers,
social workers, health professionals, psychologists; and 183 policy makers and child protection professionals. The project is structured
around the development of an AI-driven solution for child victims which will be piloted in three countries. The outcomes will include a
comparative analysis, capacity building activities and the adoption of a legal and ethical framework. Awareness-raising, advocacy and
dissemination strategies will maximise the impact and ensure the sustainability and inclusiveness of our AI-driven in Europe.
