3D SUper-Resolution to cryo-Electron MIcroscopy to study nanoscale subcellular dynamics and structure that alter in Neurodegenerative Diseases - 3SURE MIND (3SURE MIND) KU Leuven
The infrastructure includes a new super-resolution microscope, which can visualize processes inside the cell using light microscopy at a much higher resolution than what is currently available. The microscope also integrates a laser that can mark areas in the investigated samples, allowing to examine these samples by electron microscopy (reaching even higher resolution), and thus easily connect areas of interest across platforms. To further facilitate this, a new cryo-stage is added to one of our electron microscopes
Quantum microscope for low temperature measurements and nanoscale technologies (SQLM) KU Leuven
To be competitive we require a low temperature miscroscope and related nanotechnology diagnostics for addressing new programmes on quantum sensing, communication and computing and also quantum sensing by developing entanglement-based techniques as new activity opened by UH scientific works.
Bedding disposal system for animal facility Ghent University
In the new Medical Research and Education building, a laboratory animal facility will be built for biomedical research by several UGent researchers. In order to guarantee animal welfare and the quality of the research to the highest extent, thoroughly cleaned housing is indispensable: good hygiene leads to fewer infections and therefore to increased welfare and more reliable results. A bedding disposal system includes a dumping station with a laminar flow hood, a storage container and a vacuum system as depicted in figure 1. At this dumping station our maintenance staff can dispose dirty ...
Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorter (FACS) Ghent University
Robust, user-friendly and state-of-the-art fluorescence activated cell sorter (FACS) which allows isolation of individual cells and pathogens from complex cell mixtures derived e.g. from body fluids and tissues based on different cell characteristics (size, granularity and fluorescence). Isolated cells can be characterized in molecular detail, either directly or upon further cultivation. As such, FACS represents an essential tool in a plethora of life science research domains. Since FACS involves live cells and pathogens, it requires on-site access by users to avoid transport-associated ...
PHENOVION phenotyping system (PHENOVISION) Ghent University
PHENOVISION is a greenhouse infrastructure for automated, high-throughput phenotyping of crops with a capacity of 392 plants. Pots are transported in carriers on a conveyor belt system. Both pots and carriers have unique identifiers which makes it possible to treat each plant individually in transit from its position in the stationary growth area of the system to the weighing and irrigation stations and the imaging cabins. Currently, the system includes three weighing and irrigation stations with rotating platforms and the possibility to apply water and up to three different solutions. ...
