Deciphering the functional phenotype of ?d T cells in spondyloarthritis. Ghent University
Spondyloarthritis (SpA) is a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory disease affecting not only the joints and entheses, but also barrier tissues: gastrointestinal tract, skin and the eye. γδ T cells, a population of innate-like T lymphocytes, play a crucial role in the SpA pathology. In this project, we aim to investigate the functional phenotype γδ T cells in SpA through the prism of unresolved, clinically-relevant questions. It is not clear ...
Deciphering the functional phenotype of γδ T cells in spondyloarthritis. Ghent University
Accumulating evidence points towards the crucial role of γδ T lymphocytes in the pathogenesis of spondyloarthritis (SpA). The project aims to elucidate their exact influence in disease development and different organ involvement. This truly translational project combines cutting-edge analysis of the multilevel regulation of immune cell function in unique patient samples with innovative research on mouse model of SpA.
Further deepening of the market potential of new biomarkers for the diagnosis of axial spondyloarthritis Hasselt University
Show us what you can: final validation of instrumented assessments of functioning in patients with axial spondyloarthritis. KU Leuven
The assessment of functioning is considered kay in the management of axial spondyloarthritis. A final validation of these instruments is urgently needed to improve daily care.
The role of innate-like T cells in combined gut-joint disease in spondyloarthritis Ghent University
Spondyloarthritis (SpA) covers a group of common inflammatory and chronic musculoskeletal
diseases that affect up to 1% of the Western population. They are characterized by inflammation
and tissue damage of the joints, leading to irreversible damage and loss of motoric function.
Interestingly, we demonstrated that about 50% of SpA patients were found to have microscopic
signs of gut inflammation, without having ...
The "Bamboo spine" gene : a factor associated with structural severity in spondyloarthritis KU Leuven
Spondyloarthritis is a common chronic inflammatory rheumatic disease which leads, in some patients, to the development of exuberant ossifications of the spine also named “bamboo spine”, which severely impair their functional capacities. The general goal of my research project is to identify mechanism of disease that underlies progressive and invalidating skeletal structural damage in patients with spondyloarthritis. More specifically, our aim ...
