Smart structures in amplifing the power flow between two oscillators Ghent University
Absorption of vibration energy has two omportant applications: the protection of structures against environmental hazards and the use of renewable energy from natural sources. This research develops a semi-active vibration absorption control strategy to alter the parameters of smart materials such as magneto rheological or electro rheological fluids such that absorption capacaty can be improved.

Strategic Research Programme: Smart Structural Health and Usage Monitoring Strategies for Key Technologies Vrije Universiteit Brussel
The initial SRP OPTIMech was focused on Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) of Offshore Wind Turbines (OWT). This research track was very successful with respect to scientific output, visibility, external funding and valorisation (IOF BruWind). This renewed SRP project will ...

SMARTWINDOW: a Smart Switchable Window to Control Solar Irradiation Ghent University
Sunlight entering buildings through windows is an important source of heat. “Smart” windows can offer a solution, but the existing technologies are expensive, and more focused on privacy than on heat reduction.
The aim of this project is to improve the prototype switching between a transparent and a backscattering state that we have realized in a previous starTT project, based on feedback from industrial players: improve contrast, ...
