Nonlinear Characterization and Modeling of Magnetic Tunnel Junction (MTJ)-Based Magnetic Sensors KU Leuven
A magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) consists of the free layer (FL), pinned layer (PL), and the antiferromagnetic (AFM) layer. The AFM layer fixes the PL’s magnetization orientation via exchange coupling. The FL and PL are separated by a thin, crystalline MgO barrier. Electrons tunnel through the MgO insulating layer resulting in electrical conductivity, which depends on the relative orientation between the magnetizations of the FL and PL. The ...
Sense-IT: Evaluating new sensor technology for energy and growth optimization inornamental crops Ornamental plant research
Downstream targets of the metabolic stress sensor SnRK1 - One kinase to rule them all KU Leuven
The evolutionarily conserved SnRK1 (SNF1-related kinase 1) protein kinase (the ortholog of yeast SNF1 and mammalian AMPK) is a major metabolic sensor, allowing acclimatization and energy homeostasis upon changes in energy availability, thereby ensuring plant survival. SnRK1 is activated by low energy stress and repressed by high photosynthetic sugar levels, with the allosteric inhibitor trehalose-6-P acting as a proxy for sucrose supply. To ...
Integrated process monitoring and control of active pharmaceutical ingredients production via tensor based data driven modeling methods. iMPC4API KU Leuven
General purpose
The ultimate goal of this project is to develop an advanced data driven modeling methodology for full scale plant-wide API production processes. The constructed models are intended for advanced monitoring and control of the processes, which are understood as integrated systems formed by multiple heterogeneous subsystems. Therefore the key aspect is learning the relationships between process variables along the process ...

Search for a tensor component in the weak interaction Hamiltonian KU Leuven
The topic of this thesis is the precision measurement of the beta-asymmetry parameter A</>. It was measuredin the decay ...
AddSmart: Value creation in products with smart, connected technologies Sirris, the collective centre for the technological industry
Novel Assessment Techniques for in vivo Bladder Physiology KU Leuven
Neurological and functional bladder disorders cause significant morbidity and detriment to the quality of life. These disorders cause lower urinary tract symptoms which affect up to 45.7% of the world population. Neurological bladder disorders due to spinal cord injury and multiple sclerosis in some cases cause life-threatening urological complications. Functional bladder disorders in the absence of nervous system pathology present with ...
Characterization and processing of Peruvian chili peppers KU Leuven
Chili peppers are consumed not only in Peru but also worldwide, mostly due to their unique sensorial attributes, as well as their nutritional and health benefits. In Peruvian cuisine and cultural traditions, chili peppers play a key role and are consumed on a daily basis. Native chili peppers comprise more than 200 landraces grown in different Peruvian regions. These native landraces, originating from Capsicum genus, differ greatly ...
