Infinitesimals in the context of philosophy of science KU Leuven
In earlier work, the applicant developed a non−Archimedean probability (NAP) theory, which allows one to assign infinitesimal probability values to highly unlikely events. In this project, NAP theory will be applied to problems in the foundations of physics, such as zero−measure problems in statistical physics and Norton's 'mass on a dome' example of indeterminism in Newtonian physics.
