Measurement of double-parton scattering in inclusive production of four jets with low transverse momentum in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV Ghent University University of Antwerp Vrije Universiteit Brussel
Evidence for WW/WZ vector boson scattering in the decay channel l nu qq produced in association with two jets in proton-proton collisions at root s=13TeV Ghent University University of Antwerp Vrije Universiteit Brussel
Evidence is reported for electroweak (EW) vector boson scattering in the decay channel l nu qq of two weak vector bosons WV(V = Wor Z), produced in association with two parton jets. The search uses a data set of proton-proton collisions at 13TeVcollected with the CMS detector during 2016-2018 with an integrated luminosity of 138fb(-1). Events are selected requiring one lepton (electron or muon), moderate missing transverse momentum, two jets ...
Study of Z boson plus jets events using variables sensitive to double-parton scattering in pp collisions at 13 TeV Ghent University Vrije Universiteit Brussel University of Antwerp
Double-parton scattering is investigated using events with a Z boson and jets. The Z boson is reconstructed using only the dimuon channel. The measurements are performed with proton-proton collision data recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC at root s = 13TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1) collected in the year 2016. Differential cross sections of Z+ >= 1 jet and Z+ >= 2 jets are measured with transverse ...
A time-domain equivalent source method for acoustic scattering based on acoustic velocity Vrije Universiteit Brussel
In this paper, a time-domain equivalent source method (ESM) for acoustic scattering prediction is suggested, based on acoustic velocity formulations. Incident and scattered acoustic predictions are realized by acoustic velocity formulation V1A of Ghorbaniasl. Formulation V1A is based on the FW-H equation and allows direct evaluation of the boundary condition, without requiring acoustic pressure gradient computation. The scattering approach is ...
The scattering and re-absorption of red and near-infrared chlorophyll fluorescence in the models Fluspect and SCOPE Hasselt University
Scattering and re-absorption have been recognized as relevant aspects for the interpretation of solar induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) in vegetation remote sensing. In an earlier study [Yang and Van der Tol, RSE 215, 97-108, 20181 we addressed the problem of scattering and re-absorption of near-infrared fluorescence in the vegetation canopy. In this study we analyse within-leaf re-absorption of both red and near-infrared fluorescence using ...
Evidence for light-by-light scattering in ultraperipheral PbPb collisions at root S-NN=5.02 TeV Ghent University University of Antwerp
Evidence for light-by-light (LbL) scattering, gamma gamma -> gamma gamma, in ultraperipheral PbPb collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center of-mass energy of 5.02 TeV is reported. LbL scattering processes are selected in events with just two photons produced, with transverse energy E-T(gamma) > 2 GeV, pseudorapidity vertical bar eta(gamma)vertical bar < 2.4; and diphoton invariant mass m(gamma gamma) > 5 GeV, transverse momentum ...
Beam-helicity asymmetries for single-hadron production in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering from unpolarized hydrogen and deuterium targets Ghent University
A measurement of beam-helicity asymmetries for single-hadron production in deep-inelastic scattering is presented. Data from the scattering of 27.6 GeV electrons and positrons off gaseous hydrogen and deuterium targets were collected by the HERMES experiment. The asymmetries are presented separately as a function of the Bjorken scaling variable, the hadron transverse momentum, and the fractional energy for charged pions and kaons as well as for ...
A convected frequency-domain equivalent source approach for aeroacoustic scattering prediction of sources in a moving medium Vrije Universiteit Brussel
In this paper, a convected frequency-domain approach for acoustic scattering prediction is
suggested, for sources and scattering surfaces in a uniform constant flow. Frequencydomain
moving-medium formulations are used for prediction of the incident acoustic
pressure and acoustic pressure gradient. The latter is required for evaluation of the
hardwall boundary condition in a moving medium and allows a convected ...
