Dealing with nuisance: regulation, representation and legitmate penalisation. Ghent University
The project will examine the legitimacy of regulation in the case of nuisance/ incivilties. Drawing on criminalisation theory, comparative jurisprudence and contemporary criminological theories as well as on the basis of empirical research (analysis of media representations), the phenomenon will be analysed in the national and international of comparative perspective, and implications for future policy suggested.

This project studies the role that globalization processes play in the everyday professional lives and local production practices of the online and print press in Kinshasa. By using a bottom-up approach, the role and implications of contemporary and historical key processes are identified, like the shifts due to the arrival of online media and interactions with global actors.
