The role of stem and branch photosynthesis in the carbon budget of woody plants Ghent University
In estimations of the carbon fixing capacity of trees, only leaf photosynthesis is usually accounted for. However, research has revealed that woody tissue phototsynthesis may play an important role in the carbon fixing capacity of trees. This research aims at determining the role of stem and branch photosynthesis in the carbon and water budget of trees in dry areas and in the carbon budget of deciduous trees in temperate areas.
