3D multi-scale structural characterization and long-term performance related to efflorescence Ghent University
The goal of this research is to create a bridge between lime and cement mortars, and study their structure and performance. Mortar mixtures will be characterized, focusing on the efflorescence effect. For the study of the efflorescence, contamination and further accelerated aging of the mortars is done. Physical and chemical characterization is carried out, together with micro-CT for 3D analysis.
Translation of Ultra-High Performance Mixed-Matrix Membranes for CO2 Separations from Lab to Roll-to-Roll Manufacturing KU Leuven
The SUPREME project aims to bring a disruptive membrane carbon capture technology to the Flemish and global industry, particularly aimed at the chemical, steel, cement and biogas industries.

Hydration and performance analysis of very low clinker cements (ref. BAP-2023-330) KU Leuven
High-level replacement of clinker by supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) offers a well-tried solution to reducing CO2 emissions of cement production. To sustain further clinker reductions, new sources and combinations of SCMs will need to step in and their impact on cement hydration will need to be understood by comprehensive hydration models. A key input for cement hydration models, whether based on thermodynamic, microstructural, or ...
Working memory structure and performance in children with an intellectual disability KU Leuven
Working memory, alongside inhibition and mental set shifting, constitutes one of the three fundamental executive functions. Executive functions encompass an individual’s ability to maintain an independent, constructively self-serving, and socially productive life. Specifically, working memory refers to a brain system that provides temporary storage and manipulation of the information necessary for complex cognitive tasks such as language ...
Optimization of the injection molding process through advanced process and performance simulations focusing on optimal mold design KU Leuven
How can we promote performance and well-being in youth sports? The crucial role of leadership development and identity management. KU Leuven
Identity development is a complex process that is particularly prominent during adolescence, a period in which young people develop as individuals and are in search of their own identity. This identity is multi-layered and consists of both a personal identity, which emphasizes unique characteristics of the individual, and numerous social identities. These social identities are formed through interaction with the environment and in particular ...
Effects of veterinary antibiotics on plant-soil interaction, plant performance and plant community composition Vrije Universiteit Brussel
environment, where they affect soil bacteria and the performance of plants and animals. So far, the
basis for environmental risk assessments (ERA) relies on crop species, partly because the phototoxic
ABX-effects on wild species is still insufficiently understood.
We aim to explore ABX-effects on soil processes and on the ...
