Dealing with Nonlinearity in Importance-Performance Map Analysis (IPMA): An Integrative Framework in a PLS-SEM Context Hasselt University
Importance-performance map analysis (IPMA) combines PLS-SEM estimates, indicating the importance of an exogenous construct’s influence on another endogenous construct of interest, with an additional dimension comprising the exogenous construct’s performance in a two-dimensional map. From a practical point of view, IPMA contributes to more rigorous management decision-making. The basic principles of IPMA are well understood, yet the ...
Human middle-ear nonlinearity measurements using laser Doppler vibrometry University of Antwerp
It has long been supposed that the middle-ear has near to perfect linear characteristics, and several attempts have been made to investigate this hypothesis. In conclusion, the middle-ear was regarded as a linear system at least up till sound pressure levels of 120 dB. Because of the linear relationship between Doppler shift of light and the vibration velocity of the object on which the light is reflected, laser Doppler vibrometry (LDV) is an ...
Experimental demonstration of a negative Kerr nonlinearity of graphene through chirped-pulse-pumped self-phase modulation Vrije Universiteit Brussel
Negative kerr nonlinearity of graphene as seen via chirped-pulse-pumped self-phase modulation Vrije Universiteit Brussel
We experimentally demonstrate a negative Kerr nonlinearity for quasiundoped graphene. Hereto, we introduce the method of chirped-pulse-pumped self-phase modulation and apply it to graphene-covered silicon waveguides at telecom wavelengths. The extracted Kerr-nonlinear index for graphene equals n(2,gr) = -10(-13) m(2) = W. Whereas the sign of n(2,gr) turns out to be negative in contrast to what has been assumed so far, its magnitude is in ...
Third order optical nonlinearity of graphene Vrije Universiteit Brussel
A Flexible Thin-Film Pixel Array with a Charge- to-Current Gain of 59μA/pC and 0.33% Nonlinearity and a Cost Effective Readout Circuit for Large-Area X-ray Imaging KU Leuven
We report an active, medical-grade, high resolution, high dynamic range X-ray backplane based on a-IGZO thin-film technology with fast readout. This enables low dose, video rate X-ray imaging. Fast X-ray imaging will find its applications not only in medical, but also in non-destructive inspection. Curved imagers will yield sharper images when illuminated from a point source. This has been achieved thanks to superior a-IGZO technology and a ...
Multirhythmicity for a Time-Delayed FitzHugh-Nagumo System with Threshold Nonlinearity Vrije Universiteit Brussel
A time-delayed FitzHugh-Nagumo (FHN) system exhibiting a threshold nonlinearity is studied both experimentally and theoretically. The basic steady state is stable but distinct stable oscillatory regimes may coexist for the same values of parameters (multirhythmicity). They are characterized by periods close to an integer fraction of the delay. From an asymptotic analysis of the FHN equations, we show that the mechanism leading to those ...
Maximal Nonlinearity in Balanced Boolean Functions with Even Number of Inputs, Revisited KU Leuven
© 2016 IEEE. The problem of obtaining maximal nonlinearity in Boolean functions is well researched, both from the cryptographic and the evolutionary computation side. However, the results are still not conclusive enough to be able to show how good a heuristic approach is when tackling this problem. In this paper, we investigate how to obtain the maximal possible nonlinearity in balanced Boolean functions, but we also analyze how difficult is the ...
Numerical study of the optical nonlinearity of doped and gapped graphene: From weak to strong field excitation Vrije Universiteit Brussel
Numerically solving the semiconductor Bloch equations within a phenomenological relaxation time approximation, we extract both the linear and nonlinear optical conductivities of doped graphene and gapped graphene under excitation by a laser pulse. We discuss in detail the dependence of second harmonic generation, third harmonic generation, and the Kerr effects on the doping level, the gap, and the electric field amplitude. The numerical results ...
