This invention addresses several critical technical challenges for future neural probes where the CMOS circuitry needs to interface with high density microelectrodes. Firstly, the invention allows multiplexing the readout circuitry for multiple electrodes and thus will significantly improve the silicon area efficiency and thus allows miniaturization of future neural probes.
