Remote laboratory setup for software verification in an embedded systems and mechatronics course KU Leuven
This paper proposes a setup to provide remote laboratory courses on embedded systems and mechatronics applied in engineering education. A hardware setup, which allows students to test and verify their design on a real physical setup from a remote location, is presented. Special attention is given to live feedback and measurements. The accompanying software setup is discussed and presented. The software setup addresses multiple aspects such as ...
The application of artificial neural networks in mechatronics system development KU Leuven
© Proceedings of ISMA 2018 - International Conference on Noise and Vibration Engineering and USD 2018 - International Conference on Uncertainty in Structural Dynamics. All rights reserved. Artificial neural networks, currently a backbone behind many data driven artificial intelligence applications, have been growing in popularity in different domains, from speech recognition over image processing to control tasks with complex sensory inputs and ...
Mechatronics for efficient thinning of pear KU Leuven
Thinning of pear and other fruit species is an important horticultural practice that is used to enhance fruit set and quality by removing excess floral buds. Though it is traditionally carried out after fruit set, an earlier reduction of the crop potential or crop load promotes a more efficient use of the available carbohydrate resources. As thinning is currently most often conducted through time-consuming manual labor, it comprises a large part ...
Assessment of uncertainty for structural and mechatronics engineering applications KU Leuven
Nowadays, mechanical industries operate in a highly competitive environment, therefore the process of developing a component from concept through detailed Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) and performance validation is optimized for reduced development time and increased product performance. To continuously improve the product design and performance and reduce the costs and time to market, the design and performance engineering is shifted more ...
A trajectory-based sampling strategy for sequentially refined metamodel management of metamodel-based dynamic optimization in mechatronics Ghent University
Modern Linear Feedback Control in Mechatronics: Towards a Systematic Design Flow for Practicing Control Engineers KU Leuven
In a society that is depending on technology more than ever, scientists and engineers are continuously aiming at improving comfort, safety, energy efficiency, reliability, productivity, accuracy, etc. Today, one of the main drivers of persistent technological innovation is control or automation. Control systems have become omnipresent since the emergence of digital electronics in the 20th century, and it has even become difficult to imagine ...
Data-driven symbolic models for mechatronic system identification and control Ghent University
