Mechanisms of photocatalysis in TiO2 thin films for air purification Ghent University
The processes underlying the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 thin films for decomposition of volatile organic compounds from the atmosphere are investigated. This includes investigating the effect of film thickness, microstructure and doping on the activity and other physical parameters. The research is both experimental and theoretical (modeling the photocatalytic processes).
Cliffordanalyse Ghent University
Cliffordanalyse targets mainly the study of the Dirac operator and his functiontheoretical properties. Superspaces are spaces who have besides commuting variables also anticommuting variables. These spaces are of great importance in several areas of theoretical physics. Since some time, the research group works on a theory of harmonic analysis and Cliffordanalysis in superspaces. The goal is to further develop this theory.

Dendrimers as delivery tool for dsRNA/siRNA against late blight disease in tomato. Ghent University
The non-GMO delivery of genetic material in plants can provide an easy-to-use, environmentally friendly and flexible tool to improve plant performance and crop protection, which can be integrated into current pathogen management strategies. While spray-induced gene silencing with dsRNA/siRNA has been shown to offer protection against several pathogens, there is a high variability in the RNAi response related to differences in the dsRNA/siRNA ...

Reader's Digest: The Gastrointestinal in Popular Fiction, 1870s-1930s Ghent University
While the term ‘microbiome’ was not coined until 1952, the discovery of gut microflora can be traced back to the nineteenth century. By the Fin de Siècle, medical professionals were aware of bacteria’s benefits for bodily health, and the influence of digestive disorders on mental health; this became widespread public knowledge in the first decades of the 1900s. This project examines the material and metaphorical role of the digestive system ...
Addressing the People in Theory and Practice: Assembly Politics in the Greek Cities of the Hellenistic and Roman Periods Ghent University
This project examines political communication in the popular assemblies of the Greek cities of the Hellenistic and Roman periods to offer new insights into the debate concerning the extent of popular political participation. Although inscriptions mention the assembly as part of the decision-making process until the end of the third century AD, scholars have argued that, from the second century BC onwards, the people were no longer able to ...
