Structure and magnetism of metastable y-Fe nanoparticles in SrTiO3 KU Leuven
Iron (Fe), one of the most abundant elements on Earth, can appear in different structural phases associated with contrasting magnetic properties, depending on temperature and pressure. The most common phase is a-Fe, which has a body-centered cubic (bcc) structure and is ferromagnetic. Another iron allotrope, y-Fe, a high temperature phase in bulk, has a face-centered cubic structure (fcc). However, this iron allotrope has been stabilized at ...

Victims on the Job: A Criminal Event Perspective on the Dynamics Underlying Physical Violence Against Police Officers Ghent University
In this study, I use a Criminal Event Perspective to establish the underlying dynamics of physical violence against police officers. To explain this phenomenon, I integrate the interplay between individual characteristics, contextual factors, and their combined impact, with a network approach to include the extent to which physical violence is transmitted within professional social networks.
A dynamical analysis of the regulation of the cell cycle in space and time KU Leuven
The cell division cycle is a crucial biological process, essential for development and survival of all organisms. In eukaryotes, the cell cycle is regulated by an intricate network of genes and proteins that controls the progress of the cycle. All of these interactions give rise to dynamical features such as bistability and time delay which aid in the coordination of cell cycle events. Understanding this complex interplay has been helped by ...
