Seeing the touch: integration of visual and tactile signals in the rodent visual system KU Leuven
The aim of this project is to find a link between seeing and touch. The research is done in visual systems in rodents where we will try to achieve an integration of visual and tactile signals.
Microdomein interacties tussen de intracellulaire Ca kanalen IP3R and RyR na myocard infarct KU Leuven
Dysregulation of Ca2+ regulatory mechanisms results in pathological changes in cardiac function precipitating arrhythmia and reduced contractility. Central to the generation of Ca2+ signals in the heart is the ryanodine receptor (RyR) intracellular Ca2+ release channel. Release of Ca2+ by this channel is modified during disease, contributing to pathlogy. Albeit at a lower abundance, cardiac myocytes also express IP3 regulated intracellular ...
Motivic integration and the Monodromy Conjecture KU Leuven
This project is about solutions of systems of polynomial equations and the effect that singularities have on them. The long-term goal is to understand why the numbers of solutions of polynomials modulo prime powers seem to be predicted by the complexity of their singularities. The Monodromy Conjecture is a concrete statement of this phenomenon.

Applications and Analysis of Lattice Points: Time-stepping and Integration over Rd KU Leuven
We study numerical methods for function approximation and numerical integration. Specifically, we study so called "quasi-Monte Carlo" (QMC) methods. QMC methods are widely used thechniques using deterministic point sets whereas Monte Carlo methods use (pseudo-) random numbers. QMC methods in high dimensions can usually be more efficient than other methods when the problem has a specific high-dimensional structure. Since high-dimensional ...

SprInt: a novel platform for structural proteomics data integration. Ghent University
The classic approaches to determine protein structure are nowadays often complemented with conformational proteomics. This combination fills the gap between protein structure, dynamics and protein interaction. But data interpretation, integration and visualization tools still lag far behind. Therefore, we will develop PepShell 2.0 into a user-oriented ‘umbrella’ platform for a broad range of structure determination approaches.

Perceptual organization and visual attention: Inattention, expectation and Gestalt integration in the visual system KU Leuven
Despite decades of investigation, the relationship between attention and perceptual organization is still unclear. It is largely acknowledged that attention is guided by perceptual organization processes; however, the influence of attention on perceptual organization is much less explored. This thesis aimed to investigate how attention influences perceptual organization. Four studies constitute the thesis. In Study 1, we reviewed how Gestalt ...
