Adaptive behavior uncoveredMeasuring and understanding individual differences
Adaptive behavior is not a new or trendy construct. On the contrary, it has been recognized in the field of intellectual disability since the beginning of the twentieth century. Initially, there was no clear distinction between intellectual and adaptive skills, but gradually they were described as two distinct constructs, both of which ...
Individual differences in evaluation difficulty and their consequences for consumer behavior Ghent University
This project focuses on the difficulties people experience when forming attitudes, and on differences between people in the extent to which they experience those difficulties. Therefore, we will validate an evaluation difficulty scale that measures individual-level differences, and investigate how this uncertainty about the extent to which one likes or dislikes something affects a wide range of consumer behaviors.

This project aims to examine how temperament and parenting, vitally crucial for all children, can explain this wide heterogeneity in youngsters with NDBDs. To unravel syndrome-(a)specificity, I will target differences across ...
Feeling versus thinking: A search for the determinants of fear acquisition and extinction in the context of individual differences. Ghent University
Previous research has identified cognitive change as a crucial factor in fear learning. However, the negative connotation that a fear-evoking stimulus acquires, or the physiological responses it elicits (‘feeling’) often persists after harm expectancy (‘thinking’) has disappeared. In the current research, we use the fear conditioning model to further investigate the roles of feeling and thinking in fear learning.
Coping with red tape: How cultural, organizational and individual variables mitigate red tape’s negative impact on street-level bureaucrats’ wellbeing. Ghent University
Red tape is one of the biggest challenges confronting contemporary public organizations. Organizational rules that hold a compliance burden, but miss functionality, can be classified as red tape. Recent studies claim that red tape negatively impacts the wellbeing of street-level bureaucrats such as teachers or nurses. But while this claim is backed up by more and more empirical research, the actual impact of red tape on wellbeing differs ...
Human Rights in the European Liberal-Democratic Order : Individual Obligations, Duties and Responsibilities KU Leuven

The relationship between rights and duties, however, is also a more direct one, and this perspective is more often overlooked: when someone is owed something (when he or she has a right), someone else logically ...
