Error monitoring: behaviour, electrophysiology and patients Ghent University
We investigate the relationship between behavior (posterror slowing), electrophysiology (ERN/Pe componentsin ERP signal) and dopamine (schizophrenic patients) in error monitoring. We use structural equation models that take into account cognitive (mediefrontal dopamine circuit) and non-cognitive sources of post-error slowing.

Investigation into how the quantification of bird behaviour can be used to improve the welfare and productivity of confined animals KU Leuven
The doctoral research consists of two research projects, in which it will be investigated how cameras can be applied to monitor welfare and productivity in bird species. More specifically, it will be investigated to which extent camera-based automatic recognition and quantification of behaviour provide a means for timely monitoring of welfare and productivity and subsequent specific management to improve both welfare and productivity. ...

Impact of important life transitions on patterns of physical activity and sedentary behaviour KU Leuven
Regular physical activity has many physical and mental health benefits. However, a significant proportion of the population does not meet the health-related recommendations for physical activity outlined by the World Health Organization. Furthermore, the prevalence of sedentary behaviour (prolonged sitting) is high. The main aim of this PhD project is to investigate the impact of important life transitions on patterns (time and context) of ...

Generative deep learning for contingent behaviour production on social robots Ghent University
Social robots are robots which interact with people in a natural manner. Autonomously generating contingent verbal and nonverbal behaviour is currently impossible. We use generative Deep Learning to observe video recordings of people and learn which behaviours are appropriate for the robot,
with the aim of having the robot produce matching verbal and non-verbal behaviour.
Understanding the Behaviour of Building Integrated Photovoltaic Facades. Numerical and Experimental Analysis KU Leuven
Climate research has shown that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are the primary cause of global warming. The higher global temperatures associated with global warming are disrupting local climates and ecosystems in a catastrophic manner. In order to limit global warming, a deep transformation of all human systems is imperative. Among others, an unprecedented increase in the use of renewable energy sources is necessary to achieve a climate-neutral ...
