Use of the small GTPase Rab27b to diagnose and treat poor prognosis estrogen-receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer Ghent University
Within this concepTT we want to convince a company to license our biomarker by validating the Rab27B score on a large patient group with 10 years clinical outcome data. Valorising of waste streams to recover nutrients from grass and seaweed biorefineries Ghent University
The objective of this study is to retrieve mineral nutrients present in the digestate, considered as a valuable by-product after the AD, upcycle them to purified and stable fertilising products, creating added (economic) value to the overall production chain. Grass and seaweed, which will be considered novel substrates in terms of nutrient recovery from their respective digestates will be studied.
From the cradle to the grave – the urban environment impinges on developmental programming and acts as selective agent Ghent University
Wildlife is increasingly exposed to urban habitats, and the ability to cope with novel environments varies both between and within species. Here, I will analyse the effects of an urban lifestyle throughout all life stages in a coastal breeding gull and how this influences behaviour, ontogeny and habitat preferences. This project aims to increase our understanding of urban selective pressures.
