Acquiring extremely high resolution maps of water use efficiency of Australian forests to assess the effects of drought, species composition and stand structure (EXTREWAFOR) Ghent University
In this project, we will develop new algorithms for generating very high resolution maps of evapotranspiration and net primary production and ultimately water use efficiency, based on high resolution imagery obtained with a helicopter drone. The flights will be performed over different types of Australian forests, subjected to various levels of drought stress.
The Efficiency of Futures Markets Ghent University
The project is a cooperation between Ghent University Belgium, Queen's University Belfast UK and the SME Risk and Portfolio Management Stockholm Sweden. It makes use of a unique private data set provided by the SME involved. The data is on transactions of future traders, so-called CTAs These are often referred to as hedge funds, although the institutional setup and trading mechanisms show substantial differences to these. We will analyse the ...

ACHEON: Aerial Coanda High Efficiency Orienting-jet Nozzle. Vrije Universiteit Brussel
ACHEON is a new project funded by FP7 Transport (Level 0) and aimed at developing breakthrough emerging propulsion technology for green air transport. It is an ...
Datacenter Monitoring for Improving Insight and Efficiency Ghent University
We will develop and evaluate the market potential of a monitoring mechanism for the datacenter that has the potential to be a holistic monitoring solution that will help optimize day-to-day operations, identify business opportunities, reduce operational expenses, and reduce carbon footprint. The key idea is to monitor the types and the latencies of the requests coming in into the datacenter, and correlate the request stream with the hardware ...
Study on possible ways to improve efficiency in the exchange of police information between Member States, by setting up a European Police Records Index Systems Ghent University
This report reflects the outcome of the study on possible ways to enhance efficiency in the exchange of police records between the Member States by setting up a European Police Records Index System (EPRIS). Its main objective was to investigate the need and possible approaches, in particular the establishment of a European Police Records Index System (EPRIS), for identifying whether police records related information is available in one or ...
Multi-omics research applied to Human ADA2 deficiency and beyond KU Leuven
Human adenosine type 2 (ADA2) deficiency is a rare but devastating condition resulting in a complex phenotype of vasculitis (ranging from cutaneous to intracerebral vasculitis with lacunar infarcts), immunodeficiency (recurrent bacterial or viral infections), bone marrow anomalies (cytopenia, aplasia), cancer (lymphoma, leukemia). Mortality is 10%, often in childhood. The mainstay of treatment consists of anti-TNF blockade for vasculitis. ...
