To deal with lightweight and other gear modification in contact modeling, the compliance of the gear is refined for the simulation. The compliance of the teeth of the gear due to contact is separated into bulk and local contact compliance. The bulk compliance accounts for the web variation and is pre-calculated to reduce processing time during simulation. The local compliance is treated quasi-statically to limit time integration during the simulation.
