Biomechanical study of the tricuspid valve - right ventricle complex in relation to functional tricuspid regurgitation. Ghent University
Introduction
Functional tricuspid regurgitation (FTR) is usually due to left heart disease or intrinsic lung disease, both resulting in pulmonary hypertension and right ventricle failure (RVF). Untreated FTR leads to increased morbidity and mortality. However, indications for surgical treatment are vague, leading to a recurrence rate of 30-45%. The complex tricuspid valve (TV) geometry and dynamics, and its
implications for ...
Development of biomechanical algorithms in health assessment and of a business plan for future establishment of a service platform for CHaT (Center of Health and Technology). University of Antwerp
Why do asymptomatic rotator cuff tears become painful? - Effect of biomechanical, psychosocial and pain related factors Ghent University
Aim 1 is to determine if biomechanical and psychosocial factors differ between three groups: symptomatic rotator cuff (RC) tear, asymptomatic RC-tear, and healthy controls without RC-tear. Comparing those three groups is necessary in order to attribute possible differences to the presence of symptoms or the presence of a tear. Aim 2 is to determine risk factors for developing symptomatic RC-tears.

Advancing biomechanical profiling of musculoskeletal system from structure to function. KU Leuven
My research focuses on bridging my engineering background towards the functional profiling of the human locomotor system in health and disease. Through the integration of in-vitro, in-silico and in-vivo, clinical research, I aim to identify key biomechanical parameters and anatomical features that define the optimal functioning of the musculoskeletal system. Through my close collaborations with clinicians and the medical device industry, I ...
Development of a novel adaptive training tool that uses artificial intelligence to provide individualized biomechanical feedback for runners in the real-world. KU Leuven
Clinical and biomechanical outcome in patients undergoing knee arthroplasty KU Leuven
Knee arthroplasty is still the treatment of choice for end-stage knee osteoarthritis. The Belgian national register for arthroplasty reports that over 20.000 knee replacement procedures are performed each year. Mostly total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is performed. This type of arthroplasty replaces the entire articular surfaces (tibial and femoral) of the knee, including both cruciate ligaments. In contrast, unicondylar knee arthroplasty (UKA) ...
