A model-based approach for evaluating the safety and environmental effects of traffic policy measures. Vrije Universiteit Brussel
Structural Institutional Partnership Hue Vietnam 2024 Ghent University
Main scope: Deepening partnerships in research towards sustainable health solutions while introducing new collaborations
Objectives: The institutional partnership relies on a horizontal human resources axis and a vertical thematic axis, and is overarched by a methodological umbrella:
Objective 1 – horizontal axis – human resources and collaborations
1.a. Provide opportunities to former IUC-project members from Ghent ...
Wildlife crime in Ethiopia: A Spatiotemporal Analysis of Poaching Activities in Ethiopia’s National Parks and Implication for Crime Prevention Ghent University
Poaching occurs at various times and places in protected areas, and it is the second biggest threat to animal species after habitat destruction. Therefore, understanding its behavior and mapping the spatiotemporal patterns of poaching would enable effective patrolling and law enforcement in the future, and potentially reduce the declines in wildlife populations in protected areas and lowering crime in society.
Properties, dynamics and sustainability indicators of semi-urban areas KU Leuven
In Flanders problems arise when trying to delineate rural and urban
zones using geographical and ecological standards. These problemsoccurs because large parts of the flemisch landscape consist of a
'hybrid' form of landuse, with rural as well as urban properties. This
area can be called the semi-urban area and in Flanders it does not only
show up at the urban fringes (but also along major transportation ...
Behavior as an indicator - Development of a monitoring system for pharmaceuticals in aquatic systems. KU Leuven
Pollution is a key environmental problem and a major contributor to global change. Ecotoxicology combines ecology and toxicology to study the effects of pollutants on organisms and ecosystems as a whole, in an attempt to mitigate deleterious effects of environmental pollution. To determine the environmental safety of a chemical compound and to promote the sustainability of ecosystems, ecotoxicological studies use a battery of standardised ...
“Walk on”: A health psychology perspective on physical activity in fibromyalgia. Ghent University
Many patients with fibromyalgia avoid physical activities because of pain and fatigue. This research project aims to understand and increase behavioural maintenance (the ability to maintain physical activities in the presence of pain/fatigue) and behavioural recovery (the recovery of PA after periods of bedrest and inactivity) using a diary methodology (Ecological Momentary Assessment) and aggregated single case experimental designs.
