“He Will Make Her Wilderness like Eden, her Desert like the Garden of YHWH” (Isa 51:3): Metaphor, Utopia, and New Creation in Deutero-Isaiah KU Leuven
This doctoral research combines utopian studies with cognitive metaphor theory to examine how the final redactors of Deutero-Isaiah used creational language in metaphors of restoration to (1) idealize the restoration of Israel, (2) convince the people of the promise of rebuilding them, and (3) convey a utopian vision of the future Israel.
