Drosophila knock ins in a month without DNA manipulation. KU Leuven
A normal functioning nervous system is crucial for organismal health and dysfunction in parts of the nervous system can affect movement, memory formation and mood. Identification of genes responsible for inherited neuronal dysfunction permits to study their function in model organisms. Drosophila melanogaster is renowned for its powerful genetic tools for studying neurological diseases and allows investigation of these genes’ ...
In search for molecular players underlying altered physiology and behavior caused by (neuro)endocrine disrupting compounds in zebrafish by differential peptidomics and proteomics. University of Antwerp
A mechanistic-ecophysiological study of synergistic interactions between antrhopogenic and natural stressors: an integrated approach using oxidative stress and stoichiometry. KU Leuven
The impact of urbanization on microbial community structure, pollinator behavior and mating system in the late-flowering plant Linaria vulgaris KU Leuven
Entering the XXIst century, humanity will face enormous challenges to its continued prosperity. This is because the ecosystem in which mankind participates is undergoing planetary scale alterations, giving birth to new unprecedented problems. The growth and changing distribution of human population is a constituent part of this so-called global change, and must be carefully studied in order to give the coming generations a chance for a better ...
Functional and evolutionary characterisation of angiosperm single-copy gene families Ghent University
We will investigate genes for which the increase in copy number by duplication negatively impacts organismal fitness. We will use the flowering plants as a model system to study such single-copy genes. They constitute an excellent model system as the number of duplicated genes has been exceptionally high in these organisms as they have undergones several rounds of whole-gehome duplications.
Mathematical theories with parsimonious ontologies: their strengths and limitations Ghent University
The main goal is to evaluate the plausibility of various attempts to account nominalistically for the truth of mathematical theories and to develop a particular proposal of that sort which takes prima facie higher-order quantification to boil down to modal statements about the language.
Molecular Developmental Physiology and Signal Transduction KU Leuven
The central research theme of Prof. Vanden Broeck and his research group is the study of molecular, cellular and organismal physiological mechanisms implicated in the regulation of important post-embryonic developmental processes, particularly in non-model insect species. This includes the study of neuronal, hormonal and small RNA based regulatory pathways. In addition, translational research is carried out to explore and develop novel ...
