Cosmopolis is a research centre within the Department of Geography of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and is dedicated to research and teaching in geography, spatial planning and urban design. Committed to pursuing both academic and practice relevant research, Cosmopolis actively engages policy makers, governments, citizen networks and other urban partners to transform knowledge into action.
Observing the need for a strong Brussels-based research network on urban affairs, CURB intends to strengthen existing ties between researchers at ULB and VUB in the interdisciplinary field of Urban Studies. The Brussels Centre for Urban Studies (BCUS) represents more than twenty research groups from different departments and faculties of the VUB, and has close ties with the Brussels Studies Institute (BSI), the Brussels University Alliance (BUA), the equivalent networks at the ULB and USL-B, as well as other urban studies centers in Europe and worldwide.
