Tree species diversity affects litter decomposition via modification of the microenvironment Ghent University
Decomposition is a key determinant of forest functioning. Although litter-mixture effects on decomposition have been studies extensively, less is known about the indirect effects of modified microenvironments via overstorey tree species mixing. We carried out experimental set-ups in a large-scale tree diversity experiments in Belgium to address this research question. The findings are published in Ecosystems.
