Correlation between structural and magnetic properties in chemically disordered FePt thin films University of Antwerp
Integration of novel thin films with photonic circuits for telecom, quantum optics and neuromorphic computing Ghent University
To unlock a new range of possibilities on photonic chips, one must be able to integrate special materials with particular properties into such chips. Building upon the expertise in material deposition at UGent, this proposal will investigate novel deposition methods of such materials. Especially in high-speed communication, neuromorphic computing and single photon generators, this will unlock unprecedented possibilities
Surface acoustic waves on PZT thin films for particle manipulation Ghent University
Piezoelectric materials are able to convert an applied electrical signal into mechanical strain and stress. By using an electrical signal with a certain frequency, it is possible to generate an acoustic signal with the same frequency. Specially designed devices are able to generate the acoustic signals along the surface of a substrate. The generated Surface Acoustic Waves (SAWs) propagate on top of this piezoelectric substrate. Devices using ...
2D Hexagonal Boron Nitride - Thin Films and Nanowalls Hasselt University
Advanced electronic simulations of atomically thin superconducting films. University of Antwerp
Small and wide angle x-ray diffraction, equipped with a sample holder for powders and thin films (grazing angle) and a high temperature chamber. Ghent University
The spectrometer will be used for the characterization of mesoporous ordered materials (small angle) and ceramics, zeolites and metal organic frameworks (wide angle). It also offers the possibility to measure the crystallinity of thin films of thin films and is equipped with a high temperature chamber up to 1200°C.
