Dose-efficient fusion of imaging and analytical techniques in scanning transmission electron microscopy. University of Antwerp
Impact of Nef on dendritic to T cell transmission of HIV-1 Ghent University
The role of Nef in HIV transmission from dendritic cells to T cells will be researched. Both plain cell cultures as vaginal tissue explants will be used to study viral synapse formation and cytoskeleton dynamics in infection with wild-type or nef-mutated reporter viruses.
Unraveling the contribution of Plasmodium vivax metapopulation on the persistence of malaria transmission in residual areas. University of Antwerp
Community ecology of Tanzanian bats and cross-species transmission of their viruses. University of Antwerp
Who infects whom? Disentangling multi-host transmission of pathogens in rodent populations. University of Antwerp
Exploring adaptive optics in transmission electron microscopy. University of Antwerp
Inter- and intra-community dynamics of SARS-CoV-2 spread by whole-genome sequencing and phylodynamic analysis KU Leuven
Since the introduction of SARS-CoV-2, the virus has been spreading
very rapidly and has caused severe respiratory pathology around the world. A pandemie ensued within
a short time. The virus originated from a zoonotic event, where likely a bat or even a pangolin was
carrying the virus and infected a human by animal-to-human transmission. This means that the virus
is still seeking an optimal fit with its new host, the ...
Evolutionary dynamics of viral pathogens and association with disease progression. KU Leuven
Daphnia-parasite interactions on ecosystem level: is there a scope for eco-coevolutionary dynamics ? KU Leuven
We will study the role of host-parasite coevolution as an important evolutionary process underlying eco-evolutionary dynamics (‘eco-coevolutionary dynamics’, i.e. eco-evolutionary dynamics where co-evolution is the central evolutionary process). We aim to study how this eco-coevolutionary dynamics affect fundamental ecosystem functions, more in particular primary productivity and nutrient recycling in freshwater ecosystems. We will use the ...
