Confirming candidate therapeutic targets for thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection University of Antwerp
From gene to aortic dissection - detailed study of the etiology and pathogenesis and of cardiovascular characteristics of inheritable thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections Ghent University
Aortic aneurysms are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Study of genetic causes of aortic aneurysms allows us to gain better insights into the underlying pathogenesis and may offer new targets for optimizing treatment. With this project, we aim to search for new genes and gain better insights into the moecualr pathways of aneurysm formation.
Study of the genetic basis and molecular pathogenesis of cardiovascular manifestations in heritable thoracic aortic aneurysms Ghent University
This project aims to gain more insights into the molecular and cellular mechanisms contributing to Marfan syndrome (MFS)-related aortic- and cardiac disease by studying different pathways, cellular behaviour and cell-matrix interactions in MFS mouse models.
In addition, we aim to identify new genes in patients and families with genetically unexplained thoracic aortic aneurysms and dissections using a whole exome sequencing ...
