Hydropyrolysis of biomass residues in molten salts Ghent University
A new way to process biomass residues using molten salts is studied. The latter combine high heat capacities with good convective heat transfer and have the capacity to improve biomass solubilisation. Biomass conversion is studied both at microscale (py-GC-MS/FID with high pressure hydrogen) as well as at mesoscale (autoclave reactor). Finally, ways to regenerate spent salts shall be proposed.
HOW THE COMMON BEAN FOOD CHAIN AFFECTS MINERAL QUALITY KU Leuven
In order to prevent and overcome mineral deficiencies, healthy diets with a balanced nutritional profile are key. Common beans and other pulses contain significant amounts of minerals and are increasingly being suggested as important components of healthy diets. However, the mineral quality of a food product is not only determined by its mineral content but also by the bioaccessibility of the minerals. While the total mineral content ...
Experimental study and modelling of electric field enhanced pressure filtration of aqueous liposomal disperions for improved pollutatnt removal Ghent University
The goal of this project is to quantify the effect of an electric field on the filtration and solubilisation of liposomes. Furthermore, the project will investigate how electro-pressure filtration can be optimized with respect to kinetics and separation efficiency. The knowledge gained in this project will be used for developing and optimizing pollutant removeal through liposomes.
