Radical belief systems from a majority and minority perspective: The role of (perceived) group norms, meta-perceptions, and misunderstandings KU Leuven
Today, Western democracies are characterized by social conflicts on issues such as the integration of Muslim immigrants, the position of Islam and the demarcation of group identities. This lead to concerns about mutual radicalization: among the majority population, the radical right gains momentum, while radical Islam becomes more popular among the Muslim minority group. The core argument of this project is that these two types of radical ...
Radical Revenge? Revenge tragedy and providential thinking in the Dutch Republic 1638-1678 Ghent University
Radical Revenge? examines the relationship between subject formation and providentialism in Aristotelian tragedies, revenge tragedies and French-classicist tragedies in the Dutch Republic between 1638 and 1678. An attentive reading of the corpus from this cultural-historical perspective should lead to a better understanding of the peculiar position which the revenge tragedy occupies in this misunderstood development phase of Dutch drama.
A Philosophy of Radical Politics: Revolutionary Gnosticism and the Case of Salafi-Jihadism KU Leuven
Many philosophers and sociologists have used the category of revolutionary Gnosticism to frame different modern and contemporary ideologies and social movements. Revolutionary, or political, Gnosticism is a category introduced in the academic debate by the political philosopher Eric Voegelin (1901-1985) in order to investigate the two main ideologies of the 20th-century, Nazism and Communism. After Voegelin, many other scholars started to use ...
Silica templating approach for in-column radical polymerisation of low domain size polymer monoliths. Ghent University
This project intends to use HPLC columns packed with porous silica material as templates for incolumn
polymerization. Preliminary work showed that it is possible to polymerize styrene and
divinylbenzene in the pores of C18 material packed in an HPLC column. When using ODS material
with broader 1000Ä pores inter-connections between the particles appear. The goal of this project is
to work out these ...
Silica templating approach for in-column radical polymerisation of low domain size polymer monoliths. Vrije Universiteit Brussel
A NOVEL TOOL TO PREDICT CONTINENCE OUTCOMES IN PATIENTS OPTING FOR RADICAL PROSTATECTOMY AND IN THOSE UNDERGOING SURGERY FOR INCONTINENCE. KU Leuven
This project aims at generating reliable and evidence based tools to predict incontinence recovery after prostatic surgery. Moreover we aim also at creating new tools to counsel incontinent patient on the best treatment for their incontinence
Development and validation of a versatile modeling platform for atom transfer radical polymerization Ghent University
Atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) is one of the most powerful techniques for the synthesis of well-defined polymeric materials. In contrast to free radical polymerization, the major industrial production technique, ATRP allows synthesis of polymeric materials with predetermined molar mass, polydispersity, functionality, composition and microstructure and has led to an explosive development of new functional polymeric materials with ...
Bridging radical science and technology KU Leuven
The proposed project studies the process of bridging science and innovation in particular for radical ideas. The existing industry science literature has explored how firms can benefit from science for their innovative performance. It also has studied how science can be activated to contribute better to innovation. However, there is a gap in both streams of literature as they did not differentiate between types of science and types of ...
Design of water-based radical polymerization processes for nanoapplications using advanced kinetic modeling and reactor technology Ghent University
The project aims at fundamental understanding and improvement of water-based radical emulsion polymerization processes for the synthesis of polymer nanoparticles, implying control over design parameters and a clear view on the interplay between chemistry and transport phenomena on the micro-, meso- and macro-scale. The model allows identification of optimal process parameters for the synthesis of core-shell nanoparticles at industrial ...
