The overall aim of the research of the Laboratory of Translational Genetics, is to unravel the genetic predisposition to cancer and to annotate somatic changes in solid tumors with the ultimate aim to discover and functionally validate genetic biomarkers for cancer therapies.
Laboratory of Molecular Endocrinology KU Leuven
The Laboratory of Molecular Endocrinologyis interested in the mechanisms by which androgens regulate transcription in different cell types and how this leads to their effects on fertility, on the prostate, the musculoskeletal system and other organs. We employ biochemical, molecular, cellular, genetic and in vivo approaches to investigate the functions and mechanisms of the androgen receptor in cellular, animal models and humans.
Center of Molecular and Materials Modelling Hasselt University
Research activities in the group of "Theoretical Chemistry and Molecular Modelling" aim at linking domains of relevance in physical chemistry, chemical physics, and material research, such as:
- polymer physics and surfaces;
- electron structure theory of neutral and ionized molecules (anions, cations), clusters or radicals;
- advanced ionization spectroscopy (photoelectron spectroscopies [XPS, UPS, Synchrotron], Electron ...
Centre for Sociological Research KU Leuven
The main research topics at the Centre for Sociological Research are: work, organization, family, historic demography, population, health care, social policy, sociological theory, cultural studies, art, education, survey methodology and political opinion research.
For more information about the research topics of the different research teams belonging to this department see : - Theoretical Sociology, Sociology of culture and Sociology ...
At the Interculturalism, Migration and Minorities Research Centre (IMMRC), sociocultural anthropologists conduct empirically-driven research on the following themes: (1) migration, mobility and travel; (2) cultural and religious co-creation; (3) diversity and power inequalities; and (4) disability.
Surgical Oncology KU Leuven
There are four main topics of research which are closely related to major areas of clinical work. 1. Identifying prognostic and predictive biomarkers in breast cancer patients. 2. Molecular annotation of somatic mutations in sarcoma and the discovery and validation of genetic biomarkers and establishing cell lines and tumor xenografts. 3. Genetic polymorphism in melanoma; vitamin D and malignant melanoma; characterization of tumor response to ...
The Laboratory of Experimental Urology is a multidisciplinary research group related with KU Leuven and University Hospitals Leuven. Our aims are to increase current understanding about lower urinary tract pathophysiology, sexual dysfunction and prostate cancer.The second researh group is the Female Pelvic Floor Dysfunction group. By conducting innovative research we strive to improve patient outcomes.
Department of Oncology KU Leuven
The Department of Oncology at the KU Leuven fosters synergy in innovative oncological research. By creating a close link between bed and bench and by capitalizing on advanced technologies, our researchers aim to unravel key molecular mechanisms underlying the development and progression of cancer and to maximize opportunities to translate these findings into better clinical biomarkers, adaptive strategies and innovative treatments
Philosophy - Moral Sciences Vrije Universiteit Brussel
The logical en scientific-philosophic thinking investigates the formal and symbolic principles of the thinking process. The political philosophical thinking teaches us how to read historical and modern philosophical literature. The ethical and moral-scientific thinking investigates the moral issues of acting persons and society connexions.
