Respiratory Syncytial virus consortium in Europe (RESCEU). University of Antwerp
Post-infectious immune reprogramming and its association with persistence and chronicity of respiratory allergic diseases Ghent University
The central hypothesis of the Predicta project is that repeated, acute infection-mediated events may reprogram the innate, adaptive or regulatory immune responses to predipose towards a chronic inflammation pattern.
The role of specific agents will be sought in order to develop innovative diagnostics for predicting disease chronicity, as well as interventions that may delay or prevent disease progression/persistence.
Revolution of sleep diagnostics and personalized health care based on digital diagnostics and therapeutics with health data integration KU Leuven
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is associated with various negative health consequences including increased risk of heart disease, hypertension and daytime sleepiness causing road accidents. The economic burden of OSA is rising as almost 1 billion people worldwide are estimated to have OSA. The current diagnostic metric, however, relates poorly to these symptoms and comorbidities. It merely measures the frequency of breathing cessations without ...
Revolution of sleep diagnostics and personalized health care based on digital diagnostics and therapeutics with health data integration Ghent University
The Somnology group of the Dpt. of Respiratory Diseases at the Ghent University Hospital will commit to taking a leading role in the development of new innovative approaches to characterising sleep disorders in general and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in particular. Such new approach is mandatory now that it has become clear that OSA and many other sleep disorders are heterogeneous conditions that present as distinct phenotypes and ...

Innovative approach for self-management and social Welfare of Cystic Fibrosis Patients In Europe: development, validation and implementation of a telematics tool. KU Leuven
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease with the higher incidence in Europe showing c.a. 5% mortality in childhood. The majority of patients suffer from lifelong pancreatic insufficiency leading to maldigestion of food and malabsorption and consequently with malnutrition and growth stunting. An accurate enzyme replacement arises as an early nutritional intervention able to provide better nutritional status and patients’ welfare from early ...
