General Botany and Nature Management Vrije Universiteit Brussel
The APNA unit covers fiveresearch domains: 1. vegetation research and spatio-temporal vegetation analysis - target vegetation types: mangroves, temperate deciduous forests, cork oak forests, vegetation of seepage zones (including types of wetlands); - methods: classical Braun-Blanquet relevés, PCQM transects, airborne and spaceborne remote sensing, GIS, application of hydrological modelling, wood anatomy and environmental stress, ...
Plant Sciences Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food
Plant Sciences studies agriculture, horticulture, energy crops and ornamentals. We study gene characteristics, plant reactions to environmental factors, population diversity, soil characteristics, and plant diseases and plagues. We breed new cultivars and innovate in crop protection and crop husbandry. The four research areas are Applied Genetics and Breeding, Crop Husbandry and Environment, Crop Protection, and Growth and Development.
Department of Biotechnology Ghent University
Entomology Institute of Tropical Medicine
The research portfolio of the Unit of Entomology is fully in line with three “ITM Priority Research Themes 2020-2024 ”: Challenge 1: Emerging infections and outbreaks; Challenge 3. Disease Elimination; and Challenge 5. Sustaining health in a rapidly changing world.

Forest, Nature and Landscape KU Leuven
Overall, the research carried out in this laboratory focuses on the spatial and quantitative assessment of biological and man-induced patterns and processes at the landscape and habitat level both in rural, urban and natural settings. We aim at coupling traditional research on forestry, landscape elements, land use, and biotic communities with earth observation, spatial data sciences, the statistical modeling environment, and planning tools. ...
Department of Environment Ghent University
Crop Biotechnics KU Leuven
The Division of Crop Biotechnics focuses its research and education on sustainable production of agricultural and horticultural products. We employ a variety of biotechnological methodologies to perform fundamental and applied plant research. We integrate knowledge at the cellular, tissue, plant, environment and agro-systems level for both model plants and economically important crops.
Biology Vrije Universiteit Brussel
The three main research orientations of the department are: molecular biology, human biology and environment. The project focus on the following areas: 1. Parasitology; 2. Immunology and cancer therapy; 3. Development biology; 4. Environmental genetics; 5. Bio-diversity and plant genetics/engineering; 6. Nature conservation; 7. Marine and terrestrial ecology; 8. Mangroves preservation; 9. Eco-(geno) toxicity.
