Organisations
Crop Biotechnics KU Leuven
The Division of Crop Biotechnics focuses its research and education on sustainable production of agricultural and horticultural products. We employ a variety of biotechnological methodologies to perform fundamental and applied plant research. We integrate knowledge at the cellular, tissue, plant, environment and agro-systems level for both model plants and economically important crops.

Product Quality and Innovation Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food
Optimal processing of primary agricultural products (plant and animal) into quality food, feed and non-food products is our focus, particularly dairy, meat and fish products, ready-made meals, vegetables and fruits. We study quality improvement, authenticity, nutritional and functional properties, taste, nutrition and health, detection of GMOs and allergens, valorization of secondary flows and new applications from plant biotechnology.
HoGent - AgroFoodNature The Research Station for Vegetable Production
The interdisciplinary research group AgroFoodNature works, together with government agencies, other research institutes, cities, companies, farmers and conservationists at the interface of agri- and horticulture, food production and processing and nature conservation towards a sustainable agriculture and food system and a biodiverse green infrastructure.
AgroFoodNature focuses on:
1. a sustainable plant and animal production ...
Growth and Development Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food
Here we perform fundamental research on plant genomic function and interaction with environmental factors. Which molecular and physiological processes explain growth, development and their interaction with light, humidity or temperature? Using advanced technologies, we study plant physiology, biochemistry, image analysis, genetics and genomics. This knowledge is applied in innovative crop husbandry and breeding techniques.
