From Valla's Dialectica to Stevin's Bewysconst: Humanist Philosophy of Language and the Emergence of Dutch Vernacular Logic KU Leuven
This project deals with the emergence of Dutch vernacular logic,
focusing on its philosophical, logical and linguistic aspects. While
there has been much research on the development of vernacular
logic traditions in Western Europe as well as on the development of
Dutch as a scientific language, hardly any work has been done on
the specific area of Dutch vernacular logic. In this project we will
study a corpus of ...

Developing a context-sensitive support tool prototype for interdisciplinary research using contemporary insights from computational linguistics and philosophy of science. Ghent University
The aim of my project is to develop a tool for supporting interdisciplinary research. The tool consists of two modules: a language module which enables the disambiguation of concepts which are central to the interdisciplinary research, and a methodology module which allows to explicate (potentially conflicting) assumptions on ‘causation’ and ‘explanation’ held by the interdisciplinary research team members.

BCE) was the extreme altruist without respect for family priorities; Yang Zhu (4th c. BCE) was the extreme egoist without any sense of political responsibility. Since their rehabilitation as “Chinese philosophers” in the 20th century, they have been portrayed with newly coined ...
On the injustice of exclusionary language KU Leuven
With the rise of ‘woke’ culture, our language use seems to faceunprecedented level of scrutiny. So many of our words, terms, and expressions that were commonly used in the past are now beingseen as sexist, racist, homophobic or transphobic. Political institutions are abandoning terms that are considered to be politically incorrect and language academies are imposing new grammatical rules for more inclusivity. Language is, de facto, being ...
