AdS/CFT beyond the classical supergravity paradigm: Strongly coupled gauge theories and black holes KU Leuven
The AdS/CFT, or holographic, correspondence offers new technical and conceptual insights into the dynamics of strongly interacting quantum systems, such as those underlying the strong nuclear force or superconductors, and the physics of black holes. With this proposal we aim at utilizing novel developments in string theory, supergravity and quantum field theory to answer some of the challenging open questions in this research area. In ...
Trauma beyond the biomedical paradigm: avenues for a subject-oriented and contextual approach of trauma Ghent University
In recent years the hegemonic, biomedical approach of psychich trauma, which strongly focuses on the individual, and is based upon a mechanical idea of trauma, has been criticized strongly. Via theoretical studies, this project aims at developing an alternative approach that is both subject-oriented and contextual. Possibilities and implications of the alternative approach will be explored.

De kloof overbruggen: Leishmania als paradigma voor het onderzoek naar de impact van genoomdiversiteit op metaboloomvariatie. Institute of Tropical Medicine
diversity on metabolome variation.
This project aims to investigate how genome diversity can impact the
metabolome of a model parasite micro-organism, Leishmania donovani. We will
combine a study of a recently emerged population together with experimental
approaches on isogenic lines. As such we will contribute to a better integration ...
Transcending the horizon of public science dissemination. A foundational philosophical reflection on the science communication paradigm. KU Leuven
This manuscript investigates and aims to transcend inherent paradigmatic challenges in public science dissemination by reflecting upon the science communication paradigm in which both science dissemination research and practice are embedded. Public science dissemination is within this work defined as the translating, curating, and transferring of scientific knowledge via science intermediaries, encompassing a broad and diverse spectrum of ...
