Multifunctionality and local identity as paradigms for a sustainable and competitive agriculture Ghent University
Modern agriculture is characterised by a decreasing production of non-commodities, partly because remunerating markets are missing. Our hypothesis is that such markets may be constructed on the basis of local identity and territoriality. The project will investigate what local identity means, how farming contributes to it and whether this concept can be a clue to promote multifunctional farming.
