The impact of nutrient homeostasis, the oxidative balance, the cell cycle and their interplay on cadmium-induced plant growth restriction. Hasselt University
Regulation of root hair development by the plant hormone auxin through the receptor-like kinase ERULUS and modulation of cell wall enzyme activity. University of Antwerp
Metacaspase degradome in plant cell death Ghent University
My project aims to unravel basic knowledge on the identity and function of plant metacaspase proteins. The approach will be maintly biochemical, molecular and cellualr biology. I will work on the identification of metacaspase substrates (the degradome) with the aims to modulate programmed cell death in Arabidopsis thaliana.

The Circadian Biology of Latitudinal Crop Migration KU Leuven
Crops grown in northern countries like Belgium are ill-equipped to deal with rising temperatures due to climate change. One solution that has received much attention in plant science is the development of new “heat tolerant” crop varieties, however, this has proved very challenging to date. Another, potentially more rapid solution to this problem could be for farmers in Northern countries to adopt crop varieties that have already been bred ...
