The ‘Gedichtgruppe XIII’ of Gregory’s ‘Carmina’ is a sequence of poems in iambic trimeter which has been little studied so far, but stands out for its thematic and metrical unity. Many of these poems are directed against Gregory’s enemies and reveal his political commitment during his stay in Constantinople.
