Multivariate Decomposition Finite Element Method for Elliptic PDEs with Random Diffusion Coefficients KU Leuven
We develop a multivariate decomposition finite element method (MDFEM) for solving elliptic PDEs with random diffusion coefficients where the diffusion coefficient is parameterized by a countably infinite number of random variables and an appropriate system of functions. We consider two models of parametric diffusion coefficients: uniform and lognormal.
We show that the MDFEM reduces the computational complexity of estimating the expected ...
Linear codes arising from projective spaces and linear codes meeting the Griesmer bound Ghent University
In this project I study the linear codes arising from projective spaces. Properties of these codes can be found by investigating the related geometries and vice versa. I also study minihypers, substructures of projective spaces closely related to length-optimal linear codes. Some problems about minihypers are related to problems about linear codes arising from projective spaces.

Enhancing the AGRi-fOod Supply chain towards Industry 5.0 (AGRO5) in the Ecuadorian Andes KU Leuven
The global food system faces a complex set of crises, where poor distribution is one of the main factors causing hunger, food loss, and waste. Therefore, the food system is expected to be agile, resilient, and sustainable. In Ecuador, although the agricultural sector is highly relevant in the national economy, the poor food distribution causes child malnutrition, food insecurity, and poor living conditions for its actors. This project ...
Impacts of Climate Change on Catchment Runoff for the Paute River Basin in the Southern Ecuadorian Andes KU Leuven
1. Preamble
The National Park Cajas is only 35 km from the city of Cuenca. The altitude of the Park ranges from 3,000 to 3,500 m. The Park measures nearly 30,000 ha (300 km2), contains mountains and 232 glacial lagoons, interconnected by small rivers and streams. Two of the main rivers surrounding Cuenca, the Tomebamba and the Yanuncay, begin in the National Park. The most common vegetation includes ...
Anthropogenic influence on erosion rates in a typical watershed for strategies to reduce Land Degradation in the Bolivian Andes KU Leuven
The aim of this project is the implementation of a TEAM project 2018 as part of the university cooperation for development of VLIR between the Universidad Mayor de San Adrés in Bolivia and the KU Leuven about the anthropogenic influence on erosion rates in a typical watershed for the development of strategies to reduce Land Degradation in the Bolivian Andes.
Anticipating the Post-Mining Landscapes of Cajamarca, North Andes of Peru. The Agency of Design in Mining (Closure) KU Leuven
Until there is a feasible alternative, the construction of urban environments will continue to rely on the provision of metals. Supported by international financial institutions and neoliberal mining codes, mining investments in the South American Andes play a crucial role in quenching the worldwide thirst for metals. Mining industries incessantly work to improve productivity in order to stay ahead of growth. As cities around the world ...
