Setting up a surveillance system to monitor drug efficacy and to detect anthelmintic resistance in the national preventive chemotherapy program against soil-transmitted helminths in Ethiopia Ghent University
The overall objective of the project is to set up a surveillance system in Ethiopia to monitor drug efficacy and detection of anthelmintic resistance. The specific objectives are to develop and validate (i) an improved egg count
and (ii) molecular toolbox, and to (iii) field test both toolboxes in the preventive chemotherapy program of Ethiopia.
Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in National Glaucoma Research: "“Exploring ICG-mediated ILM photodisruption as a tool to boost retinal ganglion cell engraftment" Ghent University
This project explores an innovative biophotonic approach to manipulate the inner limiting membrane (ILM), a barrier which greatly
hinders the retinal entry of donor retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) following intravitreal injection. By controlled perforation of the ILM, we aim to enhance the
migration of RGCs into the retina while maintaining ILM’s cues necessary for their subsequent integration and development.
National Data Collection Program in support of the Common Fisheries Policy and ecosystem approach. Research Institute for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food
How do fish stocks evolve from year to year for a number of commercial fish species that are important for the Belgian fisheries? What is the biological, economic and technical state of the fisheries, aquaculture and fish processing sector? The aim is to make a good estimate of the fish populations (stocks), the dynamics of the marine ecosystem, the possible consequences of fisheries ...

Promoting national implementation for "Sports Club for Health" (SCforH) programmes in EU member states KU Leuven
Motivic integration, the Langlands program, and rational points of bounded height KU Leuven
My research domains are algebraic geometry, number theory the Langlands program and their interaction. Number theory has a strong impact on our life, for example the internet, computers, information and code theory will develop, if number theory advances. A big problem in number theory is solving Diophantine equations, i.e. equations of polynomials with integer coefficients. With the development of algebraic geometry, the roots of Diophantine ...
