Transcriptomic profiling of amyloid-induced responses in central and enteric neuronal cultures. University of Antwerp
Nanodiamond labelling of neuronal cells for molecular resolution neuronal and network-level imaging University of Antwerp
Development and validation of a bona fide iPSC derived human neuronal infection model to evaluate antivirals targeted against neurotropic viral infections. University of Antwerp
Study of the essential function of beta-actin in embryonic development and the necessity for correct localisation of beta-actin MRNA during neuronal development Ghent University
Through analysis of the B-actin knock-out en knock-in mice, and derived cell lines thereof, we will study the essential functions of B-actin in development (more specific in vascularisation and neuronal differentiation) and the role of the 3'UTR in correct localization and function of B-actin. Several methods will be used, including in situ immunostaining, primary cell cultures, RNAi and differential proteome analysis.
Human nerve tissue from the wall of the intestine to study neurodegenerative disorders. KU Leuven
STATE OF THE ART
Reliable and easy accessible experimental models are the key to fruitful translational research. Talking about biomedical research, every scientist in this field would like to have human material at hand to perform their experiments, but this is not always possible. Especially in the field of neuroscience, researchers face the scarce availability of human nerve tissue (which, in fact, can only ...
