The plant phenylpropanoid pathway leads to many phenolic metabolites which are crucial for plant growth and development. Although the key enzymes of the pathway are identified, the integration of the pathway in the broader metabolic network is far from understood. In this project we will characterize a previously identified novel interactor of C4H, the second enzyme of the pathway.

Specific bacterial groups involved in the biomarker formation, will be manipulated or administered to mice to aid in biomarker qualification.
